I like the idea I think MMOs do need to evolve their siocal tools. Without having seen the details of the changes coming to the guild interface in Cata, I'm not sure how much better that will be. But I doubt it will address the core issue of multiple groups and affiliations.A Tale In The Desert addresses this in a very simple way: each player can join multiple guilds. Each guild then has its own chat channel, resources and area, so you can choose which guild you want to interact with and when and always have the option of talking to *any* of your guildies, whatever you're doing in game.
